If we can take it on faith that military recruiters never lie, it only follows. <br /><br />Or, we can take it as a matter of principle that recruiters never tell the truth and that recruits are gullible, we only need look at the recruiters' stories to learn what recruits want to hear. They want to believe that they'll get a ton of money for college, not that they'll struggle to find a college willing to take them for any amount of money or that their beneficiaries will get hassled trying to collect on their insurance or that the VA system will try to grind them up should they return wounded. They want someone to tell them that they'll be in Delta Force or the Seals, not that they'll spend their stint scraping rust on a cruiser while learning to operate electronics that only exist on cruisers and have no civilian analog. <br /><br />They, like everyone else, wants to be on an alternate world, one where the harsher realities don't exist.
